Simple Words
Tragedy StruckOn September 27th, 2006 a gunman entered Platte Canyon High School, held seven girls hostage and ultimately shot and killed Emily Keyes. During the time she was held hostage, Emily sent her parents text messages... "I love you guys" and "I love u guys. k?" Emily's kindness, spirit, fierce joy, and the dignity and grace that followed this tragic event define the core of The "I Love U Guys" Foundation.MissionThe "I Love U Guys" Foundation was created to restore and protect the joy of youth through educational programs and positive actions in collaboration with families, schools, communities, organizations and government entities.
Kids and SchoolsWe're not big, but we're doing some amazing things. After extensive research, The "I Love U Guys" Foundation developed the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a classroom response to any school incident.Since May of 2009 John-Michael Keyes and Ellen Stoddard-Keyes have presented the program at hundreds of events, conferences and venues. This has resulted in adoption by districts, departments and agencies in several states. We are tremendously excited about this rapid adoption of a simple, but profound program.
Kids, Phones and the InternetWe're also engaged in an awareness campaign regarding the issue of Sexting. There are potential consequences that kids absolutely need to know about. This is a new cultural conversation. A conversation about "Digital Modesty" and permanence. The Foundation has developed a presentation and presenter's training workbook to help you engage in this conversation with kids.
Regretting is Harder than TellingThe Foundation collaborating with Safe2Tell and Jefferson County School District on a new awareness campaign.A Public Service Announcement is online and we would love your feedback. We Need Your Support
The rapid adoption of the programs that The "I Love U Guys" Foundation is developing has been incredibly exciting. The pace of adoption and our ability to really engage in new conversations with kids means that we need to grow the organization. Please take a look at what we're doing, and if you think we're doing important stuff, learn how you can help.
3 Minute Video on SRPHere's a short video telling the history of the Foundation and introducing the Standard Response Protocol.
